Introduction

Hello!

This is a 'little' intro to myself and how I came to this mess of renovating a boat.
My parents were my age when they were first on the cut, I grew up with tales of Humphrey epics and dangerous locking exploits. My hot languid school summers were often spent on a friend’s 70ft’er, Pretending to be stow-aways in their bow locker, being thrown overboard and learning to swim in the cut, with the dog.

So 20 years on it shouldn’t have been a surprise to my parents when I declared I wanted to live onboard post-university. In 2003, 20 years after my parents left the cut, My Dad bought a little 'project'. This little project was soon upgraded to a bigger project - 'Jamel'. A 45ft steel boat.

During the summer of my second degree year, I helped out on the exterior painting and sign writing of Jamel and, as all loving daughters do, soon began to take over the interior too.
I had some great holidays with my friends, and spent Easter breaks away from Uni and parents, temporarily living-onboard.

Since leaving university in the summer of ’10 a lot of work has been done to the gentle Jamel and although vastly improved, her journey’s not finish yet! Inspired by ‘The boat that Guy built’ and ‘Kirsty’s Home-made Home’, as well as various online boater’s blogs I wanted to represent the next generation of boaters (though we may be few) Although sometimes they deserve it, I won’t be blogging about BW blunders or gossip from the Basin. Just good honest renovating and interior design, the pretty stuff. Kind of like How-Tos but more like;

‘I used ‘this’ and it looks like ‘this’, and by golly doesn’t it look smashing >insert photo<

So without further ado..
